Chapter 54

MELISSA

She replies quickly, and this reassures me. I'm about to go to bed when Angelo comes into the room to say goodnight. I feel a little guilty that he's sleeping on the sofa tonight, but I try to feel normal as I lay my head on the pillow and close my eyes.

I don't want to think about Jacob, and I keep repeating this mentally before I go to sleep. I wake up to the sound of my cell phone alarm, and when I open my eyes, I frown when I realize that I'm not in my apartment.

I sit up in bed, and seconds later I start to remember everything that happened yesterday.

I turn off the alarm sound on my cell phone before getting out of bed. It's still very early, and I have some time to spare before I ask Angelo to take me back to the apartment.
