Chapter 9
Everywhere was eerie. The chills it sent down my spine were expected. What I didn’t expect was the instant wave of nostalgia that hit me. I was so familiar, yet so unfamiliar with the entire surrounding area. I knew where a lot of things were. The study table that Amelia’ unusually’ decided to keep in the living room, I guessed to keep her from being distracted by the sight of her bed during the study, didn’t change position. Even though I didn’t know what the full structure looked like till now, I knew a lot about the table.
The picture frame hanging on her wall. It was a portrait photograph of her and Don on one of their numerous trips to the coast. Amelia loved long road trips. This particular photo seemed to hold a memory—maybe it was their first trip or the one where Don had made his biggest catch. I noted the fish hanging by a hook from a thread Don held. The image of the fish blurred, suggesting the fish was still alive and moving.
