Chapter 16

The fairy fighters handed over three sets of self-directing bows and arrows to Chloe, Ryan, and Julie, along with three locking nets. The fighters had the same eyes and hair as the other fairies, but they were suited in silver and black armor. They carried shields and swords, like in medieval times. Julie wondered how they could fly with all of that equipment weighing them down.

“We have one more gift for you, children, that we think will help you on your journey through the Dark Woods,” King Wilfred announced.

He reached into the pocket of his white linen pants and pulled out what appeared to be a ball of light.

“This is a lorb,” he said. “It is a ball of sparks that come together from the residual energy from all of us fairies. We captured it in an orb, and we keep these with us to light up the night. It can light up anything, so this will be of great help to you in the perpetual darkness
