She turned towards the woods and started walking through the brush. There was no path to follow. Julie looked at Chloe and Ryan to see what they thought. They both shrugged as if to say, let’s just go. So, Julie followed Lady Anastasia first, and Chloe and Ryan fell in line behind her.

The woods got darker as they walked, but Ryan held the lorb high up to provide at least a hint of light. They walked in silence for a while, but then the children started to huddle together and whisper.

“Maybe we should get our weapons ready, just in case,” Chloe suggested.

“I don’t hear anything yet,” Ryan said.

“But if we wait until we hear something coming, it might be too late,” Cloe said pointedly.
