Chapter 11. Meetings
They drove over to a hill, and on top of it was a tree. Calvin parked the car, and they walked over.
“When I was a kid, this was my place of comfort,” Calvin began.
Tyla looked around. It was a nice view overlooking the town. The sparkling night lights, the stars, the moon, and the cool breeze—it all just felt peaceful.
“I often ran away from home when I wasn’t feeling good or when my parents hurt me.” He chuckled.
“You know, I have always been alone. And there was a time when I wanted a sibling so bad, but I guess I was born to be alone,” he said in a shallow voice. “What about you? Do you have a sibling?”
“I am one of one. My parents didn’t get the chance to create more of their genes. And I can assure you, I was a lot for them.” Tyla smiled.
Calvin looked over at her, and tears had begun rolling down her cheeks.
“I’m sorry if that was a personal question. I didn’t mean to pry.” He walked closer to her.
