Chapter 38
King Lary sat on his throne in the throne room. He was trying to remain busy and calm, but it wasn’t easy. Aides scurried about here and there, doing this and that. The king found he had a more difficult time concentrating than normal. He missed his only daughter and longed for news of her.
A young aide, a pretty little thing, reached towards him with a scroll for him to sign. He didn’t care what it was for but figured he should at least ask.
“So what is on this scroll I am supposed to sign?” he asked.
The young aide just stood there motionless. He waved his hand in front of her eyes. Her eyes did not follow.
The king looked around. All of the aides in the room were scurrying around with a similar blank look on their faces.
“Oh my, did I forget to take my meds again?” the king asked out loud.
