Nata faced her mother. At first, she was angry; she wanted to strike out at her mother, turn her into a sock! Then she realized that her mother was right. This device made her too powerful. She couldn’t control that kind of power. Nobody could.
Rapha held the device in her hand and concentrated her glare on it. The device melted into a glob of circuitry. “That’s better,” she said.
Everybody stopped smiling and looked around.
“That was weird,” Bartz said.
“Yes, but I liked it,” Tomas said.
Opal walked up and gently stroked Blue on her nose. “Are you alright, my friend?”
“I am now,” Blue said.
Opal turned to the crowd of onlookers. “Father and friends, I would like you all to meet Blue.”
