"He's awake," I say while outside.
"And how are we going to keep him from seeing what I bought? I told you it was a bad idea, Alana."
"It's a good idea. He still doesn't know."
"He's only seconds away from finding out."
"Relax, I'll handle it."
Lisa's mother arrives at the most inconvenient moment and honks, but she stops when she sees me. I greet her with charisma and see Benton looking scared, panicked, and startled. I'm sure Jack has already heard that Lis's mother has arrived.
"Okay, I'll distract them, and you'll take all the stuff to the room."
"How do I do that without Jack seeing me?"
"By being quick, duh."
I might be acting crazy, and Jack might not be upset about Lisa wrecking one of his rooms, but I don't want to take the risk.
