"I'm glad you like it, because from now on, you'll call me that," I affirmed firmly. I wasn't particularly fond of romantic nicknames; I considered them cheesy, but essentially, they still said my name, so it didn't really matter.
"Have you decided whether you'll move or not?" I asked, trying not to sound as anxious as I felt.
Amanda didn't respond immediately, which only increased my anxiety to unexpected levels. It was my day off from work, so I didn't have much to do, but the only thing that really mattered was that I would be visiting the mayor in the Rome penitentiary today.
I had made a couple of calls to a few people who owed me favors. I wanted to know how his behavior had been during the time he had been locked up and if he had seen a psychiatrist. I hoped to form an idea about his personality before meeting him, although not so much that other people's preconceptions would cloud my objectivity when making decisions.
