Chapter 21. Hurt

Amber’s POV

The next morning I am awakened by Merida and Glaciel storming into my room. Behind them is the lady’s maids Chase assigned the day I came here in a more calm manner. They look at me, as they always do, as if I am a usurper of the throne and they are only helping me because they think I will tell Chase if they don’t. To be honest I would love for them to leave me alone.

“Where’s the fire, ladies?” I ask groggily. Glaciel is paler than normal, which for her is a feat, and Merida looks like she’s going to kill someone.

“Uhm, did you and the Prince have a falling out?” Glaciel ask, her eyes wide and her hands trembling.

“No? We haven’t talked since dinner last night, and then he had ‘important work’ to do. It didn’t require my presence, so I came here and couldn’t sleep. Blaze came in the middle of the night to talk, but I guess I fell asleep.” I tell them, sitting up now. Something about the way they are looking at each other is setting Ignis
