Chapter 71. Big Sisters and Selene’s Story

Amber’s POV

“So, who wants to start?” I ask the room, sitting down on the floor with the girls. Chase and Blaze do the same, looking at Melody and Elina with a smile. Neither of the girls look at us, and what I fear the most is happening in front of my eyes. They think we’ll replace them.

“Are you sending us back with aunty?” Elina asks, tears sliding down her cheek. I wipe them away gently, lifting her into my lap and hugging her tight.

“Is that what you want, baby girl?” I reply, rocking her slowly. She shakes her head vigorously.

“No, but…”

“But what, Elina?” She looks at me for the first time, her eyes big and red from the tears. It pulls at my heartstrings seeing my daughters this way. This baby was supposed to be a happy thing, something we could celebrate as a family, but now? Keres kidnapped them before we could tell them ourselves. I hope we can explain everything, so it, with time, can become something all of us are looking forward to.<
