“You’ve been told what?” Chase and Blaze say behind me. They are both outraged at the audacity of some people and how it somehow is always my fault.

“I’m sorry my King, my Prince, but this is what is being told outside the Capitol. The Queen is someone who stole you both from your destined mate, Glaciel, and she had to settle with the Captain of the guard. And then the Queen has proven to be a battle and war hungry woman, who will be cruel to anyone and everyone who votes against her.” She shakes her head. “I never imagined you to be so… Sweet and kind. They way you handled Rowan running into you like that. You didn’t flinch or yell or kick out. You cared.” She actually smiles now. “He’s all I have left. My husband joined the forces to come here and help when we were attacked by the demons, and he died.” I put a hand on her shoulder.

“What is your last name, Yuri?” I ask, and the woman looks utterly confused.
