Preparation for the mating run isn’t as tough as Serena thought it would be, but that doesn’t mean her anxiety isn’t shooting off the roof.

Especially when both Kris and Kane avoided her throughout the weekend.

 At least Daniel and Hendrix were there to distract the omega, but it doesn’t mean she didn’t notice the way her two best friends did everything they could to not even breathe in the same air as she did.

The next weekday, however, after Serena decided to participate in the run, she tried to go through her day as she usually does. 

She half expected Kane not to show up for their training, but she was quite surprised to find the young alpha already in gear the moment she appeared in the training grounds.

“Kane?” Serena exclaims in surprise, before she holds herself back.

 “Hey.” Kane regards her with a tight-lipped greeting. “Hi, Serena.”
