Too bad, it would have been fun to spoil her a little.
“It's better not to tell the bishop about my father, right? I'd rather he didn't learn where I am from. Not right away.”
Ian nodded. “As you wish.”
She nodded too, then remained silent, as if she had nothing more to add. But Ian saw her subtly wipe away a tear. He didn't speak anymore
“Here we are: Worcester. See, it's the Royal Fort, on the hill, above the city.”
Eden straightened up and tried to focus on the landscape.
Ian seemed quite at ease, pragmatic and efficient, regularly diving into his agenda and plotting plans for her.
The image she had begun to forge of him the night before - a man who made his decisions at a brisk pace, and who had a taste for risk.
She saw him well, a responsible man. The very type of husband you can count on, actually…
