I did, and my eyes widened in surprise to see several men struggling to keep their eyes open. “Did you really sp**e the drinks?”
“Yes!”
“The seer asked for a bag and I had to get it for her,” I informed Claire.
“She was trying to help you! Don’t you know how to read her body language, Chloe? She knew something! She was just trying to act nonchalant and supportive of your engagement but she was trying to help you to leave! Here,” she handed a small piece of paper with scribbles on it.
“I can’t read it. The penmanship is terrible,” I said.
“It’s not important right now but the note said we should go to Claybourne! Come on, Chloe! What’s wrong with you?”
“I am scared, Claire,” I confessed.
When we were planning the escape, I thought we could really do it, but now that it’s happening, my feet refused to move. However, Claire was persistent about leaving, and she dragged me away from the table.
We passed by the beta’s men, and she was right
