Chapter 57

"I'm a gentleman, Chloe. You don't have to fear me, common." He said this while motioning for me to sleep next to him.

To believe he's a gentleman is like believing the earth is flat, but I'm not a coward, and I'd stick to our agreement regardless.

I inflated the pillows and snubbed him. "Are we doing it right now?" I asked quietly, but Henry replied with a loud chuckle. "Hmmm, maybe," he teased me with his quick remark.

I panicked when I heard it because Henry had fallen asleep and snored near me while I was thinking about my options.

His body could be tired from all the activity in his house...and, of course, from his numerous ladies. I smiled in the corner of my mouth as I listened to his snoring and watched him sleep soundly.

I awoke alone in the morning, aching for his presence beside me. Nothing happened on our first night in a single bedroom together.
