Chapter 5

Freya’s POV

Matteo had been showing up at school a lot lately, and I couldn’t figure out why. I started to wonder if something was wrong or if some danger was lurking around the pack, though I didn’t sense any.

“Freya, can you hear me?” Mom waved her hand in front of my face. I blinked a few times before realizing she was talking to me. My mind had been on Matteo.

“Is something bothering you, Freya?” Dad asked. I shook my head.

“Sorry, Mom, Dad,” I said. “I was just thinking about why the Lycan prince has been coming to school so much. He’s been part of the pack for months, but lately it feels like he’s expecting some kind of danger.”

“That’s not it,” Dad explained. “He’s genuinely concerned about the younger pack members. That’s why he suggested the tournament—to see how stron
