Sophie

I stood in front of the enormous building, and I didn’t remember it being this big when I first came here. I didn’t notice at first, but right now, the building mocked me with its height and confidence. One that I lacked.

I was well aware that I was standing in front of it like I didn’t want to go in, but if you were in my shoes, then you would know why.

Weeks ago, I stormed out of the building because he asked me to be his mistress. The urge to slap him was natural, and so was my answer.

Now, I was back here to plead for the offer, the same offer that may or may not be waiting for me. I imagined he was not the type to wait around for women. He had a lot of them throwing themselves at his feet.

I shuffled inside the rest of the people going there, and I said a silent prayer to whoever was listening to help me out until I got what I wanted. I took the elevators, and each step of the way made me feel even more nervous than before.
