His eyes, from her lips, rose to hers. "More than my next breath." There was intense desperation in his voice.
Sherhzaad ran her tongue over her parched lips, aware she was playing with fire. But she had to test his motives and sincerity. "Divorce for forgiveness," she placed her condition. The anguish in his eyes at her words was clear to her. His grip on her neck loosened of its own accord at her words. "I will die," he muttered, the mere thought of freeing himself from her haunting him.
"Die, then." Sherhzaad couldn't feel any remorse for him. A bitter smile touched her lips. "You have killed me a thousand times, Shehryar. Why are you afraid of dying now?" Two sets of anguish-filled tears cascaded down her cheeks.
Shehryar closed his eyes before freeing her neck. "I'm not afraid of dying. I'm afraid of losing you," he confessed, rubbing his temple.
