Chapter 146. Seeking Help
She turned her head slightly and saw the discarded belt on the floor, the bloodied gauze in the trash bin. Her breathing hitched.
She felt caged, trapped in this suffocating prison with no escape. Her fingers clutched the sheets, trying to steady herself as she sat up slowly, every movement sending sharp pain through her body. She looked down again and saw the bandage wrapped around her skin, her heart pounding against her ribs.
She had to get out. She had to leave before he returned.
With shaky hands, she pushed the blanket off and forced herself to stand. Summoning every ounce of strength left in her battered body, she swung her legs off the bed, her bare feet touching the cold marble floor. Her limbs shook, but she forced herself to stand.
A wave of dizziness washed over her, but she bit down on her lip, suppressing the pain. Every movement sent jolts of pain through her, but she gritted her teeth and moved toward the bathroom. She needed to clean herself
