Leah’s POV
I froze in my steps, my heart pounding out of my chest. The woman had a glass of wine in her hand and she looked weary. She looked like she needed to sleep but could not. She looked worried and like she needed someone to talk to.
You get the point, she was not okay, and it was clear.
“Leah,” she said, sounding like she was surprised to see me awake and out here this hour. And I couldn’t blame her, and do you want to know why? I normally did not come out at this hour. I would usually be asleep, unless I have to be outside for a reason; like when I had met Kate in the garden at the mansion that conveniently got burned down. “Why are you—why are you up? Do you know what time it is?”
