The question echoed in the recess of my mind, and I stood there, just staring at the detective. The officer at the window turned away from the lake for the first time since we had walked into the room, and he was now looking at me, waiting for an answer too.

I wanted to say I was sure, but I did not want to raise any flag. Rafael was someone whose parents had me kidnapped and had stripped my life away from me.
