Chapter 37. The Unexpected Gift
Leila’s POV
“Leila.” His voice was soft. “I need to speak with you.”
“Sure. What is it?” I replied, sounding curious.
He gestured with his hand, and I followed him out of the kitchen down the hall. By the time we got to his study, my nerves were at a screaming pitch. Dominic pushed open the door, gesturing for me to precede him inside.
“Please, sit down,” he said, and his hand had sailed to the real seat in front of his desk.
I sat down, trying to let nothing show. Dominic sat in his place behind the desk and looked at me with half intensity and something else that I couldn’t put my finger on.
“I have something for you,” he whispered and drew a small, elegant box from one of the drawers. He just put it between us and opened it for me to see this phenomenal necklace, with the Titanic diamond at its center, glittering.
My eyes went big. “Dominic, I can’t take this. It’s just too much.”
