Chapter 74. Attack Night

Leila’s POV

“Jason, stop,” I pleaded in a trembling voice as I stepped backward. Just as the yard had dimmed, so too had Jason been inching closer toward me, and his face contorted with wickedness.

“Stop? But we are just getting to the middle of it, Leila,” he snarled at me, blocking my only way out. “You think you can just keep pushing me and pushing me? I have already crossed my patience.”

I looked maniacally around me, my heart racing, hoping just possibly someone would cross my path. But it was late and the campus was deserted. “Jason this isn’t right, just leave me alone.”

He let out a low laugh; his body slid closer. “Nobody’s here to save you. It’s just you and me.” He held his hand out in front of him, allowing a soft brush against my arm. A shudder ran over me as my skin crawled from his touch.

I swallowed hard, trying to keep my voice firm and not shaky. “I’m not afraid of you.”
