Chapter 10. The Girl Awakens

October 19th, xxxx - KAMIL'S POV

SLEEPING AND WAKING UP by the girl’s bedside has become a routine. Kamil wakes up before five in the morning to jog but doesn’t join the troops five a.m.jog.

On his own, the exercise clears his head and a cold showerremoves the sleep. He visits the girl and gives her a massag, reads to her and then leaves before coming back late in the evening to do it all over again.

On this particular morning, Kamil had just risen from the cushioned chair the Doc kindly placed for him, stretching tense muscles when the most miraculous thing happened.

He lifts his head and Goddess, he’s looking into swamp-green eyes, bright like a cat’s.

Startling, Kamil straightens. He covers his mouth with a hand as he slowly exhales. He patiently and deliberately counts from ten. By zero, her eyes hasn’t closed close that a tongue-tied Kamil flees from the room to call the Doc.
