There is something about the Captain Miki doesn't like and it's not the Captain's dislike of him. Ever since the incident with Blue Sun, the Captain has always looked at him strange, a bit haughty and smug. As if his opinion of Miki has drastically reduced. 

In the cases where Miki is in the same room as the Captain, the Captain pretends Miki doesn't even exist. As if Miki is a fly on the wall, a flowerpot. Just something pretty and decorative he shouldn't bother with.

And that hurts Miki's ego more than actual words of distaste ever could. To be ignored and treated worse than air is a pretty shitty feeling. If Miki is to live here, he doubts he can tolerate the Captain's coldness towards him. It's something Miki has never dealt with before. 

Which was why Miki decides to talk it out with the Alpha. He needs to be certain that the Captain knows where his place is and that's only as the Alpha's friend.
