Rae:
I sit curled up in the far corner of the café, phone in hand, scrolling through restaurant options. The hammering from the renovation crew pounds in the background, but here—by the window, beneath the warm light and away from the main floor—it’s quieter. Almost peaceful.
Eliza leans over my shoulder, sipping from her iced coffee. “Go with the rooftop one. It looks romantic as hell.”
I raise a brow. “You just want a place with pretty pictures.”
“I want a place where you’ll look good in pretty pictures. Big difference.”
I smirk and keep scrolling.
“Too flashy. Too busy. Too loud.” I swipe past a few more. Then pause on one—sleek, private, rooftop view of the city skyline, and known for their steak.
“This one.”
Eliza nods. “Perfect. It says they do private booths too.”
I glance at her. “Think he’ll like it?”
She snorts. “He’ll like anything if you’re sitting across from him in that new dress you bought.”
