Chapter 94. Regret
Iris’s POV
I cried all the way back to Theodore’s place.
“She could’ve just eaten that fucking cake!” I screamed into the night, kicking at the gravel beneath my feet.
“You could have eaten it!” I shouted again.
“You weren’t meant to show up for dinner! You weren’t!” I yelled, flinging my arms out.
“You ingrate!!”
I heard my father’s voice from behind.
I froze where I stood as she roared again, even louder this time.
“You fucking ingrate!”
I turned slowly. And there he was, my father, marching toward me.
“What is your fucking problem, Iris? What is it?!” he barked.
“I already told you—I don’t fucking care about Ezra!” I shouted back at him, trembling.
“I told you already, Father! I don’t give a fuck—”
His hand flew over my face before I could finish as he slapped me.
The slap echoed in my ears as I stumbled, with one hand flying to my cheek.
