Chapter 43. Deception Unveiled

Hermes’s POV

I went to Emily’s bedroom. The maid opened the door when she saw me. I ordered them to leave the room and entered.

I closed the door behind me and stared at her on the bed.

I scoffed and strolled around her room. Her eyes squinted, and she groaned slightly.

Emily and I were engaged in a sexual relationship even before Nicolas, the King, died. Afterward, she begged me to mark her, which I didn’t. I wasn’t a fool; marking her would ruin my plans.

She wanted to become my mate. If I had done that when the King was alive, it would have been declared treason against him.

Emily has been my lover all along, and she has been cheating on Nicholas with me.

“Are you awake?” I asked and stroked her hair.
