Chapter 117. Desperation
Rufus’s POV
“That was an amazing honeymoon, but boy, am I glad to be home, Freya!” I said, setting the luggage case down on the floor of our kitchen. “It feels like we’ve been travelling for weeks, but wasn’t Hawaii beautiful?”
“It sure was, more so than I imagined,” Freya responded. “I’m exhausted though, a hot bath is calling me right now. Relaxing for a week really takes it out of you. I feel like I need another holiday to recover.”
Laughing at her comment, I refrained from saying out loud what came to my mind. I didn’t want to sound rude. Freya looked tired. But she looked unhealthily tired, her face was showing shadows and dark rings around her eyes. While her cheeks appeared slightly hollow and gaunt.
“You go have a soak in the tub,” I said, placing my hand on her shoulder. “I’ll get the rest of the bags from the car and sort it out. We can have an early night and recover from our trip.”
