Chapter 125. Suspicions

Freya’s POV

Tossing and turning in bed, Rufus still had not come upstairs to join me. I knew Milo had left late, but I heard him leave earlier in the night.

Things had gone quiet downstairs, and after trying to connect my mind with Rufus, I was met with a blank wall. It appeared Rufus was blocking me out from communication with a mind link. What was he up to?

I couldn’t settle, so many scenarios played inside my head. But I eventually ignored the negative thoughts and managed to drift off to sleep.

My sleep was disturbed by a weight moving me in the bed, and as I stirred I heard his voice.

“Freya?” He asked softly, and I felt his fingertips run up the side of my naked body. “Are you awake?”

“I am,” I responded, and rolling over in the bed I caught Rufus’s silhouette in the moonlight which poured through the open curtains. “Where have you been?”

“I was just drinking with my boy,” Rufus said gruffly. “It was great to catch up with him.”
