Chapter 14. The Call
Rufus’s POV
“Hey Dad we’re back,” Sienna called and I looked up from underneath my truck. I slid myself out from under the vehicle. “Are you working on this heap of tin again?”
“Well, yeah,” I replied with a grunt. “She’s an ongoing project,” I stood to my feet and dusted myself off. My overalls were filthy, covered in oil and dirt from the ground.
“Just buy a new one,” Sienna sighed. “Cut out all the hard work, then you can actually have a life. When’s the last time you saw your friends?”
I couldn’t believe I was getting lectured about life from my own daughter. “Sometimes hard work gives you the best satisfaction in life, kid,” I smiled at my wise life advice.
