Rufus’s POV
“Frey?” I called, entering my house through the open front door. I swore I had closed that when I left for the garage. “Where are you, Princess?”
I was met with silence, the house felt cold and empty.
“Freya? Are you upstairs?” I called at the foot of the stairs, but there was no answer. “Hmmph.”
Stretching out my mind, I connected with Freya instantly ‘Frey, where are you? Are you safe?’ My heart began to pound rapidly in my chest as my mind thought of the worst. What if Freya had been taken?
‘I’m fine Rufus, I’ve just gone out for coffee and some retail therapy,’ She paused ‘I just needed a change of scenery.’
‘Sure,’ I said, feeling calmer now I knew my wife was responding and seemed okay ‘Let me know if you need picking up when you’re done, okay?’
‘Yes, thank you Rufus. I love you,’ Freya responded with a gentle tone to her thoughts.
