Chapter 61. My Undoing

Lucas's POV

Athena was uncomfortable with her daughter’s situation and spoke out of turn, rushing forward in motherly affection.

“My Lord, you cannot do this to me! Adrianne is my daughter and my only child. Please, reconsider your decision, my Lord!”

Guards drew closer to restrain her from advancing any further but Father’s raised hand kept them at bay. Athena panted heavily, stressed from her exertions and Father stared at her like she was a mouse trapped in a corner.

“I have no choice, Athena. She refuses to defend herself and hence by default, she has admitted to the crime. She must be punished regardless of whom she is. I would punish Lucas if he dares to go against me as well. No one shall be spared for betraying their king.”

I was shocked to hear my name being mentioned. I had tried to keep my opinion out of the whole mess yet I had been dragged into the discussion. Father and I exchanged swift looks and anger boiled in my belly.
