Chapter 60. Hearing and Trial

Miatta's POV

I did not notice Lucas coming in but I smelled his tantalizing scent of the woods and sexy peppermint. I closed my eyes and inhaled deeply, convinced that I was only perceiving his natural cologne because I was in his premises. He was probably taking a stroll with Yvette as I had earlier overheard her say.

It wasn't until I saw everyone had stopped working and had gotten on their knees. Turning around in curiosity, Lucas stood in all his masculine glory with Ryker beside him. His inflated nostrils indicated that he could smell my essence the same way I could smell his. 

“Miatta, on your knees,” Elena admonished me when I remained standing. I fixed a gaze at Lucas and simultaneously lowered my knees to the ground. His jaw tightened with his obvious disapproval but he said nothing to free me from the obligation. Instead, he asked us to rise and carry on with our task as if he was not there, like that was possible.
