Chapter 16. Heartbroken

Elena's POV.

I couldn't take it anymore. I turned around and ran upstairs, tears streaming down my face.

"Elena, Elena, come back here! You dare not walk out on your father!" my father shouted, but I didn't stop.

My heart was shattered. I heard my father's voice, now yelling at my mother, but I didn't look back. I slammed the door behind me and collapsed onto the bed, overcome with emotion.

I buried my face in the pillows, muffling a loud scream as tears streamed down my face. Why can't I have a happy family? Why can't I be happy? I thought, my emotions overflowing.
