Chapter 16

Denzel's POV

When I turned around, my heart almost fell out of my chest. Adelaide was being carried by a warrior as he ran back to the house. I was afraid that the worst had come to pass. I dashed the remaining distance to reach the warrior carrying her. I could see she was waking up the closer I approached. When I realized she was merely sleeping, I almost started crying. 

Adelaide was trying to fight the warrior, so I swiftly dragged her away and held her in my arms. She continued her try to awaken. Before realizing the situation, her eyes briefly flashed with alarm. When Adelaide saw that I was carrying her, she flushed. 

"Did something happen? Are you alright? Are you in pain? I questioned her endlessly as she looked at me, then shyly lowered her head.

"Denzel, I am alright. I just passed out." Adelaide remarked, releasing her grip on me. Though happy she was safe, I was sad to see her go from my arms.
