Chapter 71

Rosalie's POV

We get to our room and immediately collapse onto our bed. Not only was it devastating for Derrick, but my wolf and human side also suffered a great loss when I rejected down. The pain is getting worse as I lay on my back on the bed, my breath coming out of my mouth. 

My chest is nearly too painful to be endured; it feels like several needles are driving into my heart. I pray that it will pass quickly as I close my eyes and allow it to wash over me. Compared to when I let Tristan go for Kristine, this is worse. 

Perhaps that was because Derrick was now rejecting my rejection, whereas my fated partner had accepted it right away.

Since I didn't initiate the mating process with either of them, I anticipated the pain to be less severe.
