Mark stared at both men dumbfounded, unsure if he heard right. Taking a deep breath, he cleared his throat.

“Please, Beta, can you be more clear?”

Foden felt something stuck in his throat. “Alpha Douglas is still not over the anger of Mona being rescued by Alpha Dylan. He still intends to kill her just as planned. We are not certain yet of his intentions now, and it is why we need you to help spy on him.”

The whole room went silent, with no sound coming from anyone of them. It felt like Mark’s ears were blocked by a shrilled noise from far away. When Mona had told Mark of her being mistaken for the Alpha’s mate, she didn’t go into details about what the cruel Alpha had in plan for her. The thought of losing her when he barely got to know her made his heart race terribly.
