Chapter 40
Daciana lay on her bed after her trance, her thoughts consumed by the events of the day. Her heart felt heavy, weighed down by the knowledge that her father had lied to her once again. She knew that it was foolish to believe that he would let her go, but a part of her had held onto hope nonetheless.
As she lay there, lost in her thoughts, she heard a faint rustling outside her cell. She got up and made her way to the window, peering out into the darkness.
She saw a figure moving in the shadows, and as she focused her gaze, she saw that it was one of the guards. He was holding something in his hand and motioned for her to come closer.
Curious, Daciana made her way to the door, where the guard handed her a piece of paper and a pen.
"What is this for?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
