Chapter 22. A Game of Resistance
Sarah’s lips had parted but not a sound left them. Struck speechless, she didn’t know what to say, let alone do. She knew Damon’s mood could change in seconds, but this… this was different.
So when Damon’s feet moved just a step closer, her heart instantly stopped, her body frozen in place. Somehow, that grin of his scared her more than a poker-face would. What was she supposed to expect next? A pat on the head? Or a complete 180 and have her neck sliced clean off her body?
“Sarah…” He spoke softly, more to himself than to her as if testing the name on his tongue. Another step and he completely invaded her personal space, standing before her with the tip of his shoes against her feet. His broad chest was like a wall, but one that oozed a warmth that made her shiver. “It’s a pity Damon didn’t mention my existence when I’ve been dying to meet you~” He sniffed the air again, but this time his nose swept against the skin of her neck, lingering long enough to trigger tingles
