“I have men stationed outside so if you need anything, just ask. And there’s enough to eat for a lifetime in the fridge, but just in case, absolutely DO NOT cook. And last and most importantly, DON’T talk to her… at all. I’ll be back in a bit.”
Those were the rules Damon left with Sarah just before he set off for the border. But as soon as she saw him disappear into the forest with his men, that ‘most important’ rule was broken.
“Are you okay?” Sarah said quietly, awkwardly trailing behind Katie as she walked into the living room. An answer never came. Katie plopped down on the couch and hummed a tune as she swiped at her face with a soft, wet cloth. Sarah stood stiff in the corner, and kept stealing glances at her, until Katie’s head finally snapped to her, the cloth slammed onto the table.
Flinching, Sarah spun around quickly, clearing her throat as she pretended to be busy tracing the wall with her fingers.
