Chapter 59. Out of the Shell
Today, made it the third day since Sarah had locked herself in the guestroom. At the foot of her door, two trays of food were still there, one her dinner from yesterday evening and the other her morning breakfast.
Not once had Damon seen her face after what happened and each passing day was a torture that left him sleepless every night. She didn’t eat, so he didn’t eat either. And every moment her quiet sobs filled the house, he was there with her, listening next to her door. Sometimes he stayed quiet, other times, he called her name and didn’t receive an answer.
By now, he was tired of this space between them that didn’t seem to be closing. He was frustrated, angry at himself for saying things without thinking and letting her walk away that day. But if this was a punishment, then he’d suffered enough. He couldn’t take it anymore. He was really about to lose his mind.
