Chapter 276. Cross Paths
~3RD PERSON’S POV~
~Earlier~
“Edith, what's wrong with you?” Mary asked, holding Edith’s hand. They were in a taxi, taking them to the mansion Marie and her sisters now lived in.
“I… don't… know,” Edith replied between slow, soft breaths. Her face had become pale and was covered in sweat; her eyes were half closed, and her body shivered. Her temperature was slowly rising by the second.
“Driver, take us to the nearest hospital quickly; my friend isn't feeling very well,” Mary yelled worriedly, turning to the small mirror hanging above the windscreen. The driver nodded and was about to make a turn at a junction.
“No!! Do not change the direction of the vehicle. Take us to the address we originally gave you,” Edith yelled with a sudden burst of anger.
“But Edith, you're only getting worse. If we don't take you to a hospital, something bad might happen to you,” Mary said softly. Her eyes were beaming with concern, and traces of it lingered
