Chapter 308. Unmoored

Valen’s POV

Upon teleporting to the ritual temple, I snapped my fingers, and the building’s light came on. Raina rushed out of my arms, straight to the altar, and grabbed the Coyolxāuhqui stone with both hands.

I yawned, scrubbing a hand down my face. I opened the mind-link to summon my Beta. “Dev, get Penn. Bring her to Hailey’s house.”

“Hey man, what’s going on?” Devin’s groggy voice seeped into my head.

“I’ll explain shortly.” I closed the link.

Raina turned around slowly, and I watched her silently study the sacred stone. She flinched, and I caught it.

Worry gnawed at my stomach. My baby was not okay. Something was happening to her again.

“Raina, nothing is here. We can leave now.” I glanced around the large space before looking back at her, desperate to comfort her.

She wasn’t listening to me. The voices had her in their grasp, making her feel and believe what they aimed for.
