Valen’s POV
“You can’t do this by yourself. We will help you. I promise.” I lifted her in my arms and went back to the couch, and plopped down into it with her in my lap. I kissed her forehead and her hair, saying, “We are going to find a way to silence the voices. Just hold on a little longer.”
“You don’t know what it feels like. It’s like a million hands pressing on my skull, squashing my marrow.” Raina whimpered, her voice laden with pain as she rubbed the side of her head.
“I still can’t let you go out there. I know you’re hurting, but going into the dark is reckless. I’ll lose you.” My voice shook now, thick with fear. “And I can’t, Raina, I can’t let anything happen. Not to you.”
“Valen means well, Raina.” Hailey stepped forward, her hand raised in a calming gesture. “Your father mind-linked Blayne, and he has patrol sweeping the pack grounds. We will find who is behind this.”
