Chapter 23

She knows her father is a dangerous man and does not make empty threats. She is not ready to push his limits, after all, she still needs him on her side.

"But you are right. I have to do something, they can not just walk into my hospital whenever they please to ask me questions about a useless, deceased man who is six feet under and has no business wrecking all I have worked hard for." 

He stands up from his seat and begins to pace around the office. He is deep in thought for a while until he snaps his fingers. He goes over to his phone and tries to call someone.

"Hello, Ruth. It has been a long time since we last spoke." 

The voice he was speaking to could be heard because he put the call on loudspeaker. 

"Oh, what a surprise. Good day, Richard. How have you been?"

"I have been good. Just work. You know how it is." Richard responds with false delight.

"How is Emily? She must be a fine, young woman now." 

"Of course, Emily
