Chapter 24

She loves her job, she loves solving cases and helping to protect people. But for the first time, she did not just see an opportunity to choose duty. She saw an opportunity to choose herself.

She keeps bobbing her head to the music until she comes across the gas station where Jacob had once been sighted. She drives into the place and parks her truck.

"Hello, anyone here," Amber says as she walks into the store. An old, white man shows up from the door behind the counter.

"Hello, what do you need?" He asks, placing both hands on the counter.

"Oh hi, I am in search of someone that has been around here. Let me get out his picture, hold on." She signals him with her index finger to hold on while she fumbles with her pocket zip for her phone. She gets out the phone and begins to flip through it, then stops and shows it to the old man.
