Chapter 162. Forgiveness III
Penthouse
I followed Cassian, who was carrying a sleeping Kalix, to our room. Everyone had left and wished us well, and finally, things started to feel normal. The best part was that no one held a grudge against me, which had been my biggest fear. They had promised to come back tomorrow for another much-needed family day. I hadn't been this happy in the past five years. After all, family is everything; without them, you're nothing.
Cassian opened the door, and I followed him hesitantly. It was the same room where our relationship had taken a difficult turn, leading to the worst years of our lives. As Cassian walked, the whole room came into view. I stopped in my tracks, taking in the surroundings. Everything seemed familiar, but it was no longer tainted as it had been when I left. The pictures were back in their proper places, and there was still a canvas behind the bed. Instead of our picture, though, it now featured a solo shot of me from our trip to Greece.
