Chapter 19. Deathly Race

Teyana’s POV

The roars around me sounded like background music. Cheers, whistles, curses, all because Jeremy’s name was announced. Honestly, I had imagined seeing either Jeremy or Zayne here when Stacy mentioned the race. And that was more reason I was almost wounded by my paranoia earlier.

But seeing it happen was far worse than my imagination.

“I won’t be surprised if Chris is here too” Carol muttered at my side, rolling her eyes. “Since your infamous stepbrother is here. And I swear, the moment he shows up, I will leave.” Her voice sounded distant—like it was faded to the background as the crowd pulled back, paving way for him. Jeremy. It felt as if I hadn’t already seen him this morning as he came to sight.

Black leather jacket, gloves gripping his helmet like he’d just ripped it off a rival’s head. His half-length hair was a bit wet. He looked painfully hot. And again, just like every other day since I’ve known Jeremiah Carter, my knees weakened.
